Important Notice:

After much consideration and consultation Brithdir Mawr Community will now be inviting supporters to donate to a Crowdfund Campaign rather than purchase Community Shares.

Our intention remains the same, to put the buildings and land in a Trust for the benefit of people and planet.

We feel confident that a Crowdfund Campaign will be a better way to achieve this aim whilst maintaining the integrity of our vision going forward.

The reasons for the move from Community Shares to a Crowdfund are as follows:

1. Affordability: Our Community Shares were set at £100 which excluded many of our supporters. A Crowdfund allows contributions to be matched to the affordability for each individual whilst also providing some great opportunities for participants to connect with us.

2. The external frameworks and deadlines inherent in a share offer could easily dilute or derail our efforts to 'be the change’; both members and outside supporters were concerned about losing the heart and soul of Brithdir Mawr Community.

3. Community shares, which would need to be repaid in time, would orientate the community towards creating capital rather than focusing on solutions to the climate and ecological emergency.
